Before I was referred to Nancy Barrus, I used another professional seamstress for alterations on my fine dresses. The other seamstress was very experienced and came highly recommended. After the other seamstress finished altering my fine dresses, those dresses hung in my closet, they just weren't quite right.
Finally, I took those dresses to Nancy and she realtered them. Nancy knew what was wrong when I couldn't tell. I just knew that I didn't like them. After Nancy realtered them, I love the way they look and I use them regularly. Having someone else do my alterations was a mistake that I needed to make only once.

In the search for my dream wedding dress, I could not find anything but the same old "cookie cutter" dresses that I had seen at every other store and on every other girl.

I had a picture of a front view of a dress that I really loved (with some changes). My mother and I went from shop to shop showing them the picture. It soon became clear that I was not going to find my dream dress without it costing me over $6,000 plus alterations!

Then I was referred to Nancy Barrus Couture. After explaining my dilemma to Nancy and showing her my picture, she grabbed a drawing pad and we began to create how the dress could be made. I was amazed at Nancy’s vision and talent! She created the whole dress from her head! She made sure that every detail was perfect—from how the sleeves fit, to how the front of the dress was draped, and how the lace roses were designed and placed on the back of the dress.

Nancy did extensive alterations for our daughter's wedding. The gown was 8 inches too small and Nancy did a tremendous job of fixing it. She completely remade the dress and it was beautiful. She had to increase the bodice 8 inches, shorten the length and raise the neckline 3 inches.
She did all this and no one could even tell that it had been completely redone. She rebeaded the bodice to exactly match the beadwork that was there. She was efficient and the dress was ready before we actually needed it. We have no complaints whatsoever. Her attitude took all stress away from the bride and her mother. I highly recommend her.
